Matteo

Matteo’s love for hair began more than 16 years ago when, as an assistant in a salon, he witnessed the creativity, moments shared with people and the beautiful instant you transform someone’s look and mood with the magic of a hairdryer.

He knew from those initial impressions, this was the craft he was born to learn.

Matteo traveled the world honing his skills under the watchful eyes of some of the industries best including the Aldo Coppola Academy in Italy, Paul Mitchell Academy in New York and bridal hair with Patrick Cameron in London.

Biggest mentor?

Antonio Romano, who Matteo credits as both a great hairdresser and a great man.

Awards & shows

Matteo took out the Best Junior Stylist of Piedmont in 2008 and has worked with a number of fashion designers & editorial houses including Carlo Ramello, Contessa Volpi & Manila Grace.

Favourite part of the business?

Matteo is known for his seamless balayage but he loves all aspect of the business. Blow drying is one of his favourites! He explains “Everyone in Italy wants a perfect blow-dry, and I learned from the best – Eleonora & Norma”, two women who inspired him in those early assistant days of cleaning salon floors and making endless coffees.

What makes a great salon experience?

Matteo says “you must be friendly, lovely, passionate and skilled – And then you will win”.
